Attendance
If your child is going to be absent, please call the attendance line at (925) 314-2098. If your child is late to school, please have him/her go to the office to get a tardy slip. It is important for all of the students to arrive at school on time so that they can transition into the day smoothly without missing any instructional time.
Drop Off & Pick Up
DROP OFF: Our school day begins at 8:00. Students may be dropped off at the front drive-through or on the playground no earlier than 7:45. There is no supervision before 7:45. If they are dropped off in the front, they will then walk to the playground. At 8:00 they need to be in our line and ready to walk to class. I will meet them at our line each day.
PICK UP: Students need to know how/where they are going to be picked up after school. If your child is going to Kid's Country or if a sibling will be picking them up, please let me know. Students who are being picked up by car will walk to the flagpole in the front of the school. Students being picked up by foot will meet you on the playground. Please, please make sure that your child knows which of these pick up methods they will be using. If it changes, please let both your child and myself know.

Lunch & Snack
LUNCH: The second graders eat lunch in the cafeteria at 11:40 each day, including Wednesdays when we have a short schedule. Please make sure your child knows whether they are buying or bringing lunch each day. If they are buying lunch, they need to have money on their accounts. You can do this on the Creekside website.
SNACK: The second graders have snack recess at 9:30 each day. Please pack them a healthy snack...crackers, fruit, a granola bar, or string cheese are great choices. This snack should be labeled and/or kept separate from their lunchbox. This will ease the transition to recess and will ensure that your child does not eat his/her entire lunch during recess.
WATER BOTTLES: Water bottles are a wonderful way to keep your children hydrated throughout the day and they are more than welcome to bring them to school. I do allow them to keep water bottles on their desks or nearby (as long as they do not become a distraction from schoolwork).

Lost & Found
We are working on being responsible for our belongings and putting them where they go. If your child forgets an item on the playground, in the lunchroom, etc., they will need to go look for it in the lost and found which is located in the multipurpose room/cafeteria. Please label your child's clothing, lunchbox, water bottle, etc. to make it easier to locate missing items.
Birthdays
Birthdays are a special time in your child's life and we love to celebrate them at school. However, due to the high number of food allergies at our school, please do not bring food or candy items as a birthday treat. Instead, we encourage your child to bring his/her favorite book to school so we can share in a special birthday read-aloud. If you would like to donate this book to the classroom library please have your child sign the inside cover so we can remember who it is from. On your child's birthday we will also sing "Happy Birthday" and they will get to take home something special. Summer birthdays will be celebrated toward the end of the school year.
Creekside Folders
The Creekside folder will be used to send home any important papers, flyers, or information from the school. They will come home on Tuesdays and should be returned on Friday with the weekly homework. Please take all papers out and either keep them at home or fill out the necessary information to be returned to school.
Independent Study
If your child will be absent for five or more consecutive school days, you may request an Independent Study Contract. Please advise the office staff of the dates your child will be absent and they will have you fill out all of the necessary paperwork. The sooner you are able to let myself and the office know, the better. I will prepare the appropriate work to be completed during the time of absence and it will be due on the day your child returns to school.
