Star of the Week
Each student will have a turn to be the star of the week.
A blank star of the week poster will be sent home at Back to School Night. If the poster is lost please just create an "All About Me" poster at home that has information about the star with pictures, drawings, and words.
MONDAY
Bring in the star of the week poster to share. We will display the poster until the following Monday!
TUESDAY
Bring in a favorite book. Be prepared to tell why the book is your favorite and mark your favorite part(s) to share. Please make sure the book is age appropriate.
WEDNESDAY
Bring in something special to share with the class. (Examples: work of art child has done, trophy, a book your child has written, an award or anything else of which your child is particularly proud of).
THURSDAY
Send in items for estimation! Count them and write 2-3 clues that will help us guess the number of items. Please write down the # of items, and include this in a Ziploc bag with the items (in case your child forgets!) Don’t tell anyone! Item examples: marbles, coins, erasers, seashells, beads, pasta, buttons, lollipops, small candies, marshmallows, pencils, stickers, etc.
Clue Examples:
The number is even/odd. The number is greater than____ but less than _____. The sum of the digits is ____. The digit in the tens place is greater than (or less than) the digit in the ones place. Clues should help us zero in on the number of items brought in.
FRIDAY
Parent letter day. Please send a special letter in a sealed envelope to school with your child on Friday. Or you can email me a note, if that is easier. I will read the letter to the class at our morning meeting. The content of the letter is up to you, but here are some possible ideas from previous years: describe special or funny stories about your child for the class to hear. Write a silly or serious poem about your child, tell us some interesting things we may not know about your child. The kids really enjoy the special notes sent in by parents, or even a surprise note from a family friend or another relative ;)
*We will also make a class book at school, which will be sent home the following week.
*Although we will take good care of items you send in, please do not send items that have monetary or sentimental value, just in case. Enjoy your week to SHINE!*
